How did Vidhyashram Help Children to Study and Learn in the Pandemic?

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the education system of the country majorly. The schools were shut worldwide, and over 1.2 billion children were out of the classroom. As a result, the education system changed dramatically with the distinctive rise in e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely on digital platforms. The schools adopted new technologies to keep the learning process ongoing. Vidhyashram also resorted to Google for Enterprise Education, Moodle Learning Management System, Video Lessons on Google Classroom, and Google Meet to teach the students via virtual learning.

During the pandemic, when learning was at a screeching halt worldwide, Vidhyashram facilitated our students with premium Google tools and services that enhanced their learning experience.

Google for Education

Virtual learning helped the schools during the COVID-19 situation in our country and it was enhanced with Google for education. It offers various features and tools to increase the education standard and teaching-learning experience. Vidhyashram offers premium google tools and services to enhance a student’s experience. For this, we use tools such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Docs, Google Chat and Google Forms. Implementing Google for Education in our school has allowed the students to submit the assignments online, view grades, keep track of the work online without carrying the stack of papers around. The classroom experience has completely transformed by incorporating advanced teaching and learning tools.

Synchronous Teaching Through Google Meet

Google Meet made the whole learning process easier for both students and teachers.

  • Students joined classes just with a click and were learning even in the pandemic.
  • The video calling through Google Meet helped the teachers to conduct classes and easily converse via videos.
  • Students could also ask the questions in the ongoing class via chat and the teachers answered on the spot to clear their doubts.
  • The videos on the Google Meets are recorded and uploaded on the Google Classrooms for the students who were not present in the class.

Asynchronous teaching through Google Classroom

Through Google Classrooms, students can learn at their own pace.

  • Students could find the already recorded videos in the Google Classrooms for the students to watch them later and clear their doubts.
  • Google Classroom is used to communicate with students, distribute assignments and stay organized.
  • Teachers assign the tasks to the students to be completed in a particular time frame and the students have to submit the assignment before the deadline. The teachers can provide the grade and feedback in the grading tool.
  • Teaching-learning activities and resources are added in the Google Classroom on a daily basis to keep the students engaged and avoid boredom.

Frequently assess student learning

Formative assessments help the teachers to know if students are continuing to progress while away from school. Quizzes are created for the students to check their understanding on a particular subject..

  • Teachers can check the understanding of the students during live video lessons by asking a poll question and showing the results immediately.
  • Quizzes are created to test the students. Also, automatic grades are generated and instant feedback is provided to the students to improve their weaknesses.
  • The results of the chapter and unit tests are shared with the parents on a regular basis.
  • Vidhyashram students uses myCSBEguide platform for video-lessons, online tests, chapter-wise textbook solutions, sample papers and test papers. It helped our students during the pandemic to continue their learning.

Moodle Learning Management System

The field of education is no more alien to technology. And in the pandemic, the technological needs grew more. With the purposeful and positive use of technology, a revolutionary change is visible in the education field.

Vidhyashram uses a Moodle Management System which eases the process of learning.

It helps the teachers to share ideas in the forums, engage students with media and students can take quizzes to check their understanding.

  • Keep In Contact – Easy communication with students via messaging, forums and mobile notification.
  • Smart Work – Teachers can engage with students on Moodle’s collaborative tools and get feedback to enhance their teaching skills.
  • Reward Success – Students will be motivated with digital rewards for participation in various activities.
  • Monitor Progress – Teachers can use learning analytics to ensure learners are busy on task and those in need get the support they need.

Adapting to virtual learning tools was a challenge at start but Vidhyashram has successfully overcome that challenge. This change has made the culture of learning even more interesting and enjoyable.
