Celebrated – World’s Earth Day
Earth is home to countless species of flora, fauna and, of course, human beings. Yet, in the rat race of development, we have, somewhere, ignored its value and the need to conserve and preserve it. Now, it has emerged as one of the major concerns for the entire world and we are bound to show certain degree of perseverance to save mother earth.
22nd April is celebrated as World’s Earth Day across the globe in order to awareness amongst the human race for conservation of Earth.
VIS always believes in educating its children over such sensitive issues and, talking one step ahead, one entire week was allocated to a number of activities and competitions related to Earth Day.
The week began with a poster making an activity for classes 1,2 and 3 wherein the children were given liberty to put their thoughts into colours as to how they can help in saving the earth from the damage which is being caused to it in the process of development. A collage making competition was conducted for the children of Classes 4 and 5 and they were judged on the basis of their houses viz. Ganga, Yamuna, Krishna and Kaveri. A special assembly was presented by the children of Class 3. The small little children adorned the assembly with poem, skit and a song that accentuated the importance of the earth for our survival. It ended with the pledge by the children where they promised to put their efforts to save mother earth from further damage. It was really gratifying to see children understand the importance of conserving the Earth.
