Global Folk Stories – ISA Activity

Stories not only from the foundation of imagination amongst children but they also act as a catalyst and help the children create a world of fantasies. It is this fantasy world which introduces them to number of emotions like fear, joy, happiness etc.

There is no denial to the fact that stories play a substantial role in building of a child’s personality and, keeping this in mind, VIS conducted a very interesting activity for the children of Class 4 and 5 wherein teachers narrated multiple folk stories from around the world to these students. Number of stories with good moral values and messages were taken from countries like China, India, Arabic stories, France. The children experienced sheer joy as it was like a walk down the memory lane where they were told beautiful stories by their mothers, grandmothers and teachers.

In the next stage of this activity, they were asked to pick up the protagonist of the stories and weave a story of their own.

This was not only an interesting activity for them, but, it also widened the horizons of their imagination. It also gave a sense of pride as they were the creator of their own stories.
